Current Team

Professor Kathy Griffiths, BSc (Hons), PhD (ANU), MAPS

Kathy is the current Director of the National Insitute for Mental Health Research (formerly Centre for Mental Health Research), the Director of the Depression & Anxiety Consumer Research Unit and e-hub Web Services, and is an NHMRC Senior Research Fellow. She has published in the fields of mental health, psychology and clinical neuropsychology. Her current research interests are in the areas of depression, e-mental health (including the quality of online health information), mental health literacy, and the prevention of mental health problems. Kathy is a co-author of MoodGYM, an online program which delivers cognitive behaviour training for the prevention and reduction of depressive symptmoms in users. She is a registered psychologist.

Kylie Bennett, BSc, BA(Hons) (ANU)

Kylie is the Development Manager for the e-mental health Research and Development Group at the National Insitute for Mental Health Research, and undertakes project management and development for the group's research projects. Her research interests lie in the demographic and risk factor predictors of successful user outcomes in e-mental health interventions.

Anthony Bennett, BAppSc (RMIT)

Anthony is the IT Manager for the e-mental Health Research and Development Group at the National Insitute for Mental Health Research, and oversees all software, database and website development for the group's projects.

Mick Carney

Mick is the graphic designer for the e-mental Health Research and Development Group at the National Insitute for Mental Health Research, and provides templates and images the group's projects. He designed the new look for the BluePages site (2014).

Nhi Ha

Nhi is the software developer for the e-mental Health Research and Development Group at the National Insitute for Mental Health Research. He did the initial work re-implementing BluePages onto the GetSimple Content Management System.

Julia Reynolds, BA (Hons) (UWA), MPsych (Clin) (UWA), MAPS, AFBPsS, CPsychol

Julia is the Clinical Services Manager for the e-mental Health Research and Development Group at the National Insitute for Mental Health Research, and works closely with the group's management team to ensure best-practice delivery of their web services. She is also a clinical psychologist who has worked in private practice and in agencies that provide services for people affected by substance use and major mental health concerns.

Ada Tam, BSc (Hons) (UNSW), Grad Dip SciComm (ANU)

Ada is the Web Developer for the e-mental Health Research and Development Group at the Centre for Mental Health Research, and works on projects implementing web content using web best practice. She finalised the re-implementation of the BluePages website onto the GetSimple content management system and new design.

BlueBoard moderators

We would also like to acknowledge the work of the current moderators for BlueBoard on the BluePages site - a bulletin board which provides mutual support for consumers who suffer from depression.

Former CMHR Team Members

Professor Helen Christensen, BA(Hons) (Syd), MPsychol, PhD (NSW), MAPS

Helen is the former Director of the Centre for Mental Health Research at the Australian National University. She has published over 100 research articles in the field of mental health. Helen's current research interests are in the area of e-mental health, depression, mental health literacy, the prevention of mental health problems, and the cognitive effects of aging. She is co-Director of the Centre's e-mental Health Research and Development Group and co-author of the MoodGYM Cognitive Behaviour Therapy online program. She is a registered psychologist and a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences in Australia.

Professor Tony Jorm, BA (Hons) (Qld), MPsychol, PhD(NSW), G Dip Comp(Deakin), DSc(ANU), FASSA

Tony is the former Director of the Centre for Mental Health Research and the author of over 200 research articles and chapters on mental health research. Along with Kathy Griffiths, Helen Christensen and David Hawking, Tony was one of the original team leaders for the BluePages project. His research interests are in the area of the epidemiology of depression and other common mental health problems, mental health literacy, psychological and social factors in physical health, and ageing and dementia.

Dr Stephen Rosenman, MD (Syd), FRANZCP

Stephen is a psychiatrist in private practice and is an expert in treating people with depression. He is also a longstanding Visiting Fellow at the Centre for Mental Health Research. Stephen was previously the Director of Mental Health services in the ACT. His research interests are in the area of post traumatic stress disorder, the epidemiology of suicide, psychotic disorders, ethics and computerised diagnosis.

Ailsa Korten, BSc (Hons) (Syd)

Ailsa is a former Research Officer at the Centre for Mental Health Research. Her research interests include the epidemiology of depression, the validity of tests of depression, cognitive change in older people and mental health literacy. She is an expert in advanced statistical analysis, and in analysing complicated longitudinal and other health data.

Dr Bryan Rodgers, BA (Hons), MA(Oxford), MSc(Lond), PhD(Bristol)

Bryan is a Visiting Fellow at the National Insitute for Mental Health Research. He is the author of more than 70 research papers. His interests are in the personal and social factors that precede depression and other mental disorders.

Claire Kelly, BA (Hons), PhD (ANU)

Claire is a former CMHR student who graduated with her doctorate in 2004. Claire's research include young people's mental health, mental health literacy and the prevention of mental health problems.

Betty Kitchener, BA (Psychology), M Nursing, Grad Dip Special Ed, Grad Dip Community Counselling

Betty is a registered nurse with a particular interest in mental health literacy. She runs the Mental Health First Aid program, which she previously developed with Professor Jorm at the Centre for Mental Health Research.

Ruth Parslow, BApp Sc (Maths) (QUT), BA (Qld), MPH, PhD (ANU)

Ruth is a former CMHR research fellow, whose research interests are in the area of service use/help seeking, mental health literacy, post traumatic stress disorder and depression.

Karen Gall

Karen is a graphic designer and web constructor who helped design the original BluePages website.

Sandra Lauer, BA, BEc (ANU), DipIT (MI), CertIV AWT

Sandra is an experienced web developer who developed and managed the design and layout of web projects for the e-mental Health Research and Development Group.

Michelle Banfield, BA (Hons), BSc

Michelle is a former Research Assistant and PhD student with the Insitute's Depression & Anxiety Consumer Research Unit. Michelle is a former moderator of BlueBoard on the BluePages site - a bulletin board which provides mutual support for consumers who suffer from depression.

We would also like to acknowledge the work of Susan Basiaco (former CMHR administrative assistant) in monitoring the external links on BluePages, and Greg Thomas, Jo Medway (former Research Assistant) and Trish Jacomb (PATH Data Manager) for their assistance in compiling information for the site.

Former CSIRO Development Team

Francis Crimmins, BSc (Hons), MSc (DCU)

Francis was formerly a Research Engineer in CSIRO Mathematical and Information Sciences Technologies for Electronic Documents group. He has a particular research interest in web resource discovery and metasearching on the web. Francis was a member of the P@NOPTIC team, which developed the search engine that powers BluePages Depression Search.

Dr Nick Craswell, BSc(Hons), PhD

Nick was formerly a Research Scientist in the CSIRO Mathematical and Information Sciences Technologies for Electronic Documents group. He was a member of the P@NOPTIC team, and has particular research interests in search algorithms, search quality evaluation and distributed information retrieval.

Dr David Hawking, BSc (Hons), PhD

Dave was formerly a Principal Scientist in the CSIRO Mathematical & Information Sciences and leader of the Information Retrieval Group that developed the P@NOPTIC search engine which powers BluePages Depression Search. His particular interests are in the area of Information Retrieval and Web search including web search evaluation, distributed search techniques and intranet search.

Dr Ian Mathieson, MBBS, BMedSci (Melb), MSc (LaTrobe)

Ian was formerly a Research Engineer in CSIRO Mathematical and Information Sciences and a member of the P@NOPTIC search engine team. He has a background in parallel computing and was a General Practitioner in a previous work life.
